Start Here
Welcome to the about start here page of the talk about grief website. This is where you will get a brief overview of the website and what to expect. “Our” website is created for you, where you’ll find information, stories from other readers, and helpful articles.
My goal is that you have a place to come and gain a little insight and even comfort in this difficult time.
Grief is a tiny word that encompasses so much more than it’s definition.
Who Is Talk About Grief (dot) com for?
There are many reasons and types of grief, but the focus of this website is about grief after the death of a loved one. It’s for anyone who has experienced loss, grieving and the many things that are related to this difficult time.
Almost all of us in our life will experience loss that is followed by grief, and, it affects each of us in different ways. The “G” word is complex, and there is no one size fits all explanation to the big question what is grief.
It is painful, physically and emotionally. It exposes thoughts, feeling and parts of us that we never knew existed. As we move through grief’s far reaching affects we discover there are more questions than answers. Especially the answers we want.
Who Does Grief Affect?
While it starts with a death grief affects everyone from family to friends, to friends of family and co-workers. Grief has a ripple effect and can have far reaching affects.
One of the simplest analogies I heard is that of an earthquake. At the epicenter typically is the strongest impact is felt and from there it ripples outward. And yet while it ripples each person experiences the impact differently. Some people feel the ground shake longer, and it is felt stronger for some than other.
Some people get their balance quickly, others take time to regain their balance, while others feel that they are always on shaky ground. This is a simple analogy in an effort to explain how many people may be affected by a single loss. But it’s never that simple… I know…
About Me
I’m Andrea, founder and author of this site who is a Mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend. I am a life and career coach, NLP. M Pratitioner, entrepreneur, and previously volunteered for hospice, crisis center, Red Cross education… to name a few.
More importantly, I am a mom surviving the life changing and devastating death of my son. As well as I have experiences the loss of many other family members and friends… So, while our experiences are unique I can relate to much of what you are going through… wondering where to turn… what to expect… how to go on…where to get help
Why Start Here…
I know what it’s like to be in a crumbled and desperate state with no idea where to begin in this unwelcome journey. Fumbling my way through the resources available. In my time of need I found there were few places to turn. And those that were available, were of little to no help, often leaving me more lonely, frustrated and damaged, if that were possible.
After visiting a string of many well-meaning Dr’s, health professionals, mental workers, etc… I came to realize that few people knew how to talk about grief… that there is a heavy focus on a need to “fix grief” and, how lonley grief is…
This is no time to be alone…
For this reason, I created the website, as a place to visit, to talk about grief through stories, articles and all that surrounds it.
I invite you to visit often… share with family, friends, loved ones who want to understand how they may help as you start over… and, all that can benefit for “our website” – and, that means you…
From the heart,
Andrea
